Some coaches who are severely depressed and/or anxious should probably not be coaching - but it depends on the individual; many coaches continue to do an amazing job and make a difference while working on their own issues.
Coaches who have recovered from depression/
anxiety
will most likely be better coaches than they were before, as they have been forced to face their demons and have come out the other side. Like a doctor who has beaten cancer, a personal trainer who has lost 150 lbs - the success means they have been there, done that. And coaches have a distinct advantage here, in that we won't be telling people how to do it, but using our experience and coachlike questions to help clients over their hurdles in the way that works best for them.
Our anxiety therapists, coaches, and counselors work with you to identify the core causes at the root of a struggle with anxiety disorder. Then, they assist you in addressing them one at a time, as well as, support you throughout the process of recovery.
Learn more about how our anxiety therapists, coaches, and counsellors and the approach they use are different from other therapists and types of therapy. Our anxiety therapists, coaches, and counsellors use a variety of approaches, such as:
cognitive behavior therapy (cbt) – – identifies and addresses the unhealthy behaviors that cause anxiety unwellness. Cbt also teaches healthy coping skills, recovery tools, and strategies designed to assist in the treatment of anxiety disorder, such as containment and
fear
extinction, to name two.
Counselling for anxiety is one form of treatment. Talking to a counsellor can help in many ways, including helping you understand what may be causing your anxiety, and teaching you coping techniques. There are many types of talking therapies available, though the most commonly prescribed is cognitive behavioural therapy (cbt). Cognitive behavioural therapy aims to help you manage problems by enabling you to recognise how your thoughts affect both your feeling and behaviour. Cbt combines two approaches; examining your thoughts and the way you behave. This helps to break any overwhelming problems down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Counsellor lee valls speaks to happiful about anxiety and how therapy can help.

A therapist is often a counselor or psychologist with either a masters, doctorate or ph. D. In their field. They are licensed by their state to practice and are focused on long-term patients. Interestingly enough, many former therapists have left their profession and gone on to become life coaches. Life coaches are usually trained or experienced in their area of practice, often focusing on a niche, such as anxiety. They are encouraged to obtain certification, however, what they do is not regulated and does not require them to be certified.
